B&Q Wind Turbines (Merged Thread)

I agree with the sentiments expressed on wind turbines. I don't however subscribe to the notion that micro generation is a waste of time. I believe that if people want to spend their money on this they should be allowed to do so free of comment. Most people are wise enough to work out whether they are cost effective or not.
Moving on the url link below shows there are alternatives to nuclear power and having seen this in Freemantle I am convinced it has a role. It does work and for communities in Western Australia its does provide the dual benefit of both power and fresh water.

The arguement over where we should go is clearly down the nuclear path and the sooner we accept that and start the process the better. However, we should not oppose of condemn those that see a role in the microgeneration game. I have PV panels and an very happy with them despite the cost.
I would object to lots of individual wind turbines. I abandoned mine as it never produced what it claimed.0 -

I don't believe anyone suggested that someone shouldn't spend their money in any way they wished. The issue was originally that B&Q were making unrealistic claims about their performance, and that this would mislead people into thinking that Windsave turbines would save them money. This being a money-saving website, people therefore commented!I have PV panels and an very happy with them despite the cost.
If you're happy then great!Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

Magyar, not disputing your words.
Some seem however, to have a crusade against such things.0 -

I left secondary modern school in 1959 aged 15,with no academic qualifications whatsoever, and I have attained none since; if you think what I post it too technical, I dread to think what your standard of education is."
Colin S - I dont really appreciate that post, in fact I find it quite rude and insulting. My level of education is just fine thanks.
I wasnt referring specifically to your postings, my point was however, in the 10 pages of content on this thread it is indisputable there is going to be many people completely baffled by some of the more technical posts.0 -
True, but unfortunately you have to be technical sometimes in order to be able to prove your assertions. It is a sad reflection on the low level of science education in this country that so many people are duped by the claims of dishonest companies about the capabilities of the products that they are selling.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Irrespective of someone's views, there is never any need for comments likeI dread to think what your standard of education isSays James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

You were not meant to appriciate my post; the opposite of normal is abnormal. Did it no occur to you that anti-Windsave posters who try to point out the reasons why it is not worth buying this particular product, might take exception to your original post? You should have given examples. People have been giving perfectly valid reasons for not buying Windsave since it first came to public notice, and have seen these reasons backed up by actual Windsave customer reports. None of the predicted benefits from
buying Windsave claimed by the company and its supporters have come to pass. It's bloody insulting after all this to have it implied that all us antis are just a bunch of wind turbine nerds who aren't normal. We are only trying to save people money and stop wind energy getting a bad name.
None of the posts on this thread is technical, this is not a site dedicated to renewable energy, go to the fieldlines.com site if you want to find technical posts on wind turbines.0 -
Here's David "Trash" Gordon making some more unsubstantiated claims.

Just got round to reading this - in one place it says:-
"Mr Gordon says his micro-generators are unique in being able to smooth out the fluctuating electricity created by the wind, so it can be fed into the household mains through a 13-amp plug."
Does that mean what I think it means ? Back feeding from the generator via a 13 amp plug INTO a socket !!!!!! Live pins on the plug ????????!!!!!!!!!!
Not only unsubstantiated, but potentially lethal !0 -
No, if you're careful it's perfectly possible and safe to do this. You just keep checking that the mains is there periodically. So there are only live pins on the plug if it is plugged into a live socket.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
