Looking for second hand buttons in Glasgow/Edinburgh

I'd like to make some jewellery and other craft projects using buttons to support a fund raising event. I'm on a very tight budget, so, don't want to spend too much money. I tried a few charity shops, but haven't had much luck.

Can anyone please suggest places I can go for second hand buttons? Any particular boot sale?

Vintage would be nice, but I'm also looking for colourful and interesting buttons.

There's quite a lot of job lots on ebay and there's some on Folksy too (here) - some are cheaper than others.

Your best bet might be putting a wanted post on Freecycle? It's the sort of thing people save up, and I'm sure they'll be happy to help out.

I'm not sure about shops. There's a couple of vintage clothing shops in Ruthven lane off Byres Road in Glasgow, and there was one in The Barras, I think it was across from the Square Yard which also has random bits and bobs like that. I'm sure there's other places in the Barras that you might find them if you're lucky.
