Hi everyone, not been on for a while, needed a break from the whole BR thing

Last night i applied for a vanquis card online (its been almost 2 months since our discharge) i got a message after the 'minute' to say they would contact me within 10-14 days for more info, well they rang at 8.10 this morning! I have been approved, i am very surprised it was this easy though if im honest, although i am also pleased they accepted me, rejections are so costly to the credit rating:cool:

Anyway, the only problem being I completely forgot to see if i could apply through Quidco, I checked this morning and if i had have done I would have got £25 cashback!!!!

Please think about this if you are applying, I am so damn cross with myself now!!!

  • Great news! Congratulations!

One question... Were you a Vanquis customer before the BR? Just asking because I had a card with Vanquis which was declared in my BR (only about £400 on it). I will be keen to repair my credit once I am discharged!
  • I have been discharched nearly a year now, I applied about a month ago and got the same message after the 'minute' to say they would contact me within 10-14 days for more info. I did not get approved, however I did have a Vanquis card included in my BR
  • I applied on-line about a month after my discharge from BR, after a brief phone call about 2 days later i was accepted. Was quite surprised... thought it may take a while longer before i was even considered for credit.

    Hi
Vanquis were not one of our creditors, it probably does make a difference for a while, capital one are advertised as good for credit file clean up but they were one of our creditors so i wouldnt have tried them

  • Well done. I have just received my granite card (the new cc by vanquis), and am waiting for my pin to come through.

I have never been declared bankrupt but have a CCJ and several defaults so no-one would touch me either. I am just pleased I get this chance to rebuild my credit.

I don't think I'll be eligable for mainstream credit until 2014 when the CCJ falls off my file though, but surely every little helps in the meantime?
    Overdraft: £2,000 Paid Off: £0
    CC: RBS Mastercard-Limit £1050 Balance £300
CC: Granite/Vanquis - Limit:£750 Balance £0 (pay off in full every month).
Very- Online store account: Limit: £950- Balance £200.
Simply Be online Account: Limit: £350. Balance £0

Youre right Laurabow, every little helps and thats all we can do. Our file wont be ''clear'' until 2015 but we have managed to change our phone/broadband account (although we were rejected by 02) change our car insurance provider and now this, so things are not as dire as i expected them to be at this point
