  • Just got my Barclaycard statement and it's going down nicely. From next month I'll be paying at least £100 off a month so hopefully it will go down quicker.

Have £180 left in the 'savings' and £112 to pay on the credit card, with nothing to spend on either of them hopefully before the end of the month. I'm proposing to transfer £150 into an ISA as long as nothing unexpected crops up, as the £112 will come out of next month's money. I get paid early this month (21st! woo hoo) so that will make it all feel a bit easier.
Have also started the £365 in 365 days challenge and am attempting to rememer to put £1 a day in my terramundi so that come the end of November I will have my Christmas spends in there... every little helps.:T
Sold a few bits on ebay this week which will have brought in £50, so that will pay for a new hard drive for the computer as we are desperately running out of space on it.
My own account is currently still in credit too, although I have a couple of 'lunches' this week and next. One of those a friend owes me for though, as I paid for her before Christmas, so it should be okay.

Hope everyone else is doing well, and will update soon.

  • It actually is, as my DD of £70 has gone out, but I only update it when I get a new statement, but if I could find £39.16 before the next statement it would be down to the £2500s!!!

  • Payday! But before I transfer my money over to the 'savings' I am pleased to report that I have transferred £150 to an ISA! :jI actually have real savings now, even if it's only that much! Next month I have £150 to pay off the visa bill, and the deposit to pay for my car insurance but there shouldn't be much else to pay out so hopefully I'll be able to put even more away next month.

Beanie, I haven't manged to find my £36 yet, but have got stuff finishing on ebay tomorrow, so hopefully....
  • Still not found my £39, and I won't be able to either, but never mind! ( the stuff finishing on ebay funded a new monitor for our computer, £33 on ebay, plus a scan on my car as the engine light came on) The £700 is doing relatively well this month, have had to pay the balnce off the Visa bill, the deposit for the car insurance, some dancing expenses as there's a show in a few weeks, £35 for a guide weekend for DD2 and £65 deposit for a school residential for DD1 but that still leaves over £350 in there. My aim for this month is to carry £300 over to the ISA, so we'll see how that goes.
Struggling a bit with my own account as I'm now paying £100 off the Barclaycard each month, and had a few other things to pay this month but they're all for me so I can't complain really! Bought two friend's birthday presents in the sales, though they're not till June so I'll have them ready, and have treated myself today to two new pairs of jeans in the M and S spring clearance. I did desperately need new 'smart' jeans though. I'll manage, but there won't be much left over at the end of the month.
One good bit of news is that in my comp winnings ive won a ferry crossing. I'd already exchanged clubcard vouchers ready to pay for my ferry so have got £120 worth of those which I now may not need. if I put them on ebay I can put the money from them into the holiday fund!
Off to Manchester tonight for a friend's birthday. We've booked one of those nice apartment places (£23.50 each) and plan on eating junk and then heading out for a few drinks before returning there for a few more, so shouldn't be too expensive a night. Can't wait!

Wow, where did that month go? Payday today, and once again it feels so much more positive than this time last year. I am proud to report that I limped to the finishing line with £1.04 in my own account:rotfl:but better than nothing! Good news though is that tomoorow I will be transferring £250 to my ISA as that was what was left over from the £700 this month! It's so much better doing that than just leaving it in there to get eaten up next month, it feels like I actually have some savings, although I do have a very long list of what it needs to be spent on... but now it's there I don't want to spend it.
Next month I will have to be a bit careful though, we owe £200 to the credit card, have had to set up a standing order to daughter again, as she still can't find a job ( No EMA for us, which is a bit of a bugbear of mine, but there you go) plus she needs £65 which I have promised her for a trip she is going on, so that's £315 gone already! I think I'll aim for a hopeful transfer of £200 at the end of the month again but we'll have to see how it goes.
She is also hoping to get into a stage experience 2 week workshop over the summer which will cost £160 if she gets through, but not sure when that will have to be paid.
I have also now saved £200 in my holiday fund, which is about half of what I need, so that feels good too.

There's a huge list of all the things I need to do with the very small savings I now have, but I'll leave those for another day! Off for lunch with a friend today ( well it is payday!) so hope everyone is doing well, and good luck for March!

  • Hi Minty

Looks like your figures are coming down nicely. Must be hard with your daughters trips and worshops that you need to budget for.
I'm so glad i've not finished school or uni this year as must be very hard to get a job at the moment :(

It is nice to have savings aswell as getting rid of debts. Just started some savings of my own but still looking at the best deals for ISA's as there seems to be some competition starting up on them. Who is your ISA with?
Hope you enjoy your payday lunch treat with your friend. Treats are definately needed even with money saving :p
