Removing Ex from mortgage/deeds

Can anyone offer any advice?
Ex and I split nearly two years back. Both our names are on the mortgage but I've been paying it alone for year & half. I want to remove his name from either the mortgage or the deeds, basically to secure the house in only my name, for me and my two girls.
Previous threads mention about the bank looking into the accounts and affordabilty etc, although I am earning enough - on paper once the bills, debts (most of which are joint..!) and other deductions taken theres not too much left so probably fall flat on that part..!
Does anyone know a legal way to remove his name without having to re-mortgage.

No, you will need the lenders permission which means you will need to be checked for affordability.
What is the value of the house, the oustanding balance on the mortgage and your annual income?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
debts (most of which are joint..!)
You need to address this issue before applying for a mortgage. Who is currently making the repayments?0 -
Not sure what others in this forum think, but might be worth re-posting this under the Debt-Free Wannabe forum as I think they are quite used to advising on best ways of handling joint debts / relationship breakdown (big picture) as opposed to just the mortgage.0

I'm paying all of the joint debts. As most of them are soley in my name as my credit rating was better at the time.0

To take ex of the mortgage there would need to be an affordability check but your ex could be taken off the deeds but keep his name on the mortgage. That way the property is all yours when the mortgage is paid off but you r ex is still liable for the mortgage as still named on. Don't know if your ex would want to go for that option.0
