Notice of early discharge

Hi all
Havn't been around lately, but here's an update.
Housing Association got us a bigger house (after 5 1/2 year wait).
Dad bought me an old banger for £400, cos we now live in the middle of nowhere (bliss!)
House was a state and I will now be occupied for the next 10 years
.
Income dropped by £100 per month.
But the best news was a letter from OR two weeks ago informing me that due to my circumstances he was considering me for Early Discharge. I filled in a very simple little form, wrote a covering letter (more like a dissertation really), sent off waaaay too much information and waited.
I got a reply on Tuesday saying he was informing my creditors and I will hear in due course (he also confirmed that all the info I sent was uneccessary, but hey, can't be too careful!).
So I await the post. I will update you all as soon as I hear!

Thanks guys
Life has settled down unbelievably well since BR. I can't believe how little stress I have been under with our finances :j! No phone calls or sh***y letters from anyone.
The one phone call will always stick in my mind though, DCA rep asking if I had a debit or credit card (me - yes), would clear I my balance today and me saying NO! There was silence and then I said that I had been declared BR the previous day! I hung up and I haven't had any phone calls since.
It wasn't an easy decision to make but I have made a fresh start and I am currently saving (actual real cash!) for new worktops for my decrepit kitchen!LBM:FEB 2008

Morning
Still no news on ED, but life post BR is puttering along quite nicely.
I feel a little odd when I think of how painfree the court bit was. I remember being nervous and talking too much.
I was guided through it all by CAP. I had been in such a state with creditor calls and letters, that frankly if the Judge had ordered me to stand in the town square buck-naked in order to receive my BR order, I would have done it
.
My physical health issues are getting worse and pain is a constant companion. I have mental health issues too, but despite those I feel like a new woman.
The real actual cash I am saving have been converted to Ikea vouchers so I can't spend it anywhere else. My bills are up-to -date, I'm still wary of putting the heating on etc in case I fall behind, but my kids have insisted that jumpers, thick socks & hot water bottles are no longer enough
.
Best of luck to anyone going through the process, especially those going to court today or having OR interviews.LBM:FEB 2008

rugbymum, when did you go bankrupt? I'm also in Suffolk so I think it's likely we're both dealing with the same OR's office (in a certain blue and white town?!).
I went bankrupt towards the end of March, and last week received a letter in the post telling me that I'd been granted early discharge. I'd previously received a letter about the possibility of early discharge at the end of July, duly returned the relevant paperwork and sat and waited. Like you, I was just starting to resign myself to the likelihood that I'd hear no more until the year was up, but then got my ED.
I don't want to get your hopes up - just thought I'd share my details as it appears that in this area EDs are being granted, although my case was fairly straightforward and property, etc, wasn't involved.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :-)0 -
Is that the town with a football team that has a horse for a logo?

I'm not too bothered at the moment to be honest, ED won't make any difference to me either way, but it would be lovely.
Bit chilly today, nicer than yesterday and at least the wind has died down!LBM:FEB 2008

That's the one.

Must admit, ED came just in time for me as I know I'm due a pay rise soon which would have meant my surplus income increasing and an IPA being put in place. That's fair enough, rules is rules, but I'm not going to complain that I've 'escaped' it either. Actually looking forward to starting the process of rebuilding my credit rating. Now if only I could pay off the Student Loans Company... not going to happen anytime soon but I hate still having a debt hanging over me when everything else is clear.
Yes, I'm at home today and have had to put the heating on - I feel the cold (yeah, ok, I'm a wimp!) and couldn't bear the thought of sitting here all day shivering. Warmer than I was at work yesterday though - it was bitter.
Good luck, and hopefully you'll receive your ED sometime soon. You might not need it, but it still puts a big smile on your face when you open that letter.
