Big life change

Hello everyone - just wanted to introduce myself.

I finally took the step of really looking at my debts last night and also doing a budget and I really have got no excuse but to start paying these off.

I have been spending up to the bottom of by overdraft each month by far too much going out, shopping and by spending £140 a month of cigarettes. Jeebus!

I gave up smoking a few days ago and am determined to now only go out two nights a week (that includes weekends).

I am also barring shopping for the next month and also am planning on writing a "needs" and "wants" list of the things I have on my mental shopping list. I suspect 99% is just "wants..."

Anyway - I've changed my monthly credit card payment from the minimum (£78) to £300 per month. eeek!

Wish me luck!

    Welcome!

Increasing your monthly payments to pay off your CC is the only way to make a serious dent into this debt so well done.

Post your SOA and we can see where else you can make cuts and throw the savings at paying your debts off.

We've all been there on this board so you've come to the right place for advice.

    good luck!

Cutting down on the shopping and listing your "needs" and "wants" is an excellent idea. I can't believe how we used to spend Saturday afternoons trawling around the local shopping centre spending our money on stuff that we really didn't need. I spend Saturdays now lounging on the sofa catching up on all the telly that I miss during the week...usually with a big bar of Poundland chocolate. Bliss! :rotfl:
