Gum Infection

Hi everyone.
I am basically looking for some help as i had a gum infection last year that took 4 lots of antibiotics to get rid off!
Its my 40th birthday today and it feels like the infection has reared its ugly head. I am so busy today and going out tonight i cannot get to a dentist. Has anyone got any tips to help me through the day with the pain? I would be so grateful for any ideas as i really do want to enjoy the day. Thanks.

Antibiotics don't generally 'get rid' of dental infections. They can get rid of the symptoms, but unless the underlying cause is dealt with, they will only come back. It might be days, weeks or years, but they come back, and never at convienient times!
If it is an infection then the sooner you're on antibiotics, the better, and the sooner it's sorted properly, then the less likely it is to come back.
Sorry it's not convienient, but you reallly need to see a dentist ASAP.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Try swilling your mouth with warm, salty water. Iboprofen helps too but you will have to go to the dentists eventually

As TS said antibiotics do not get rid of gum infection.... they just surpress the symptoms for a while. You need to see a dentist, possibly a hygienist and learn how to clean effectively so it doesn't come back.Obviously if you smoke that will make you much more susceptible to devastating gum problems and giving up is a very money saving thing to do .
