Hi
I married my wife 6 months ago and moved in to her house.She has a bad credit rating and is therefore being ripped off by a mortgage company (and i mean ripped off £30,000 on an interest only at £270 for 30 years)My question is:-can I take up a first time mortgage and buy the house from her or can I get a joint mortgage with me as first name lender, I am not on any of the mortgage details.Any help or ideas would be extremely helpful. Thank you

you cant take on mortgage in own name with wife there as seen as trying to jump the policy. trying to do it with you first name means nothing to a lender as they will credit search both. and if joint app mortgage deal will reflect WORST rating.
better to see how bad her credit history is. then approach a lender and ask. get report from experian or equifax first.
lot of lenders will take on satisfied defaults up to certain level. unsatisfied normally means a NO.
let me know details
