Does the Shopping Genie really work?

Hi
Many of you have probably heard of and used the free Shopping Genie application. What I am looking for is some honest feedback on whether it is as good as people claim when it comes to finding bargains. It claims to search out the very best and latest bargains from all the leading online stores. The example that was shown to me found a top brand camera about 30% cheaper than buying it from the manufacturer's online shop.
Forget the much touted money making opportunity that it offers its freelance distributors; what I want to know is.......
Will it really save me money?

It will only find you things it gets a commission on if you buy.
It won't tell you about the retailers that don't offer commission to affiliates, so you can never be sure you are getting the best deal.
If you want the bast deal on the internet, use a search engine, not a site that only shows you retailers who pay them.0 -

Possibly not but this dubious scheme will make money for the person who asked you to download the application.;)

Avoid its a MLM scheme and only which is invariable spam a lot on forums like MSE, the reason it doesn't work and people always looking for new recruits or mugs0

Why is everyone so against other people making money from other peoples efforts? This is a product driven biz NOT A STRATEGY one unlike most mlm's.
The product itself is viable... only the owners have decided to distribute it via word of mouth.Their aim is to save a home £150 a mth just like this site does!!
Is everyone forgetting that they are querying affiliate-ship on a site where the owner is an affiliate himself!!!! Martin Lewis is also an affiliate guiding traffic. Just like us. I've found a reputable source to back my point up.
So if you don't agree with the methods of marketing and you are as ethical as you say you are, I wouldn't associate myself anymore, with the site/tool 'my shopping genie ' or Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert'. I found a Wii for £89 the other day, from an ethical site....I presume????? I didn't question it, the comparison site in question is an affiliate, as am I! I am sending traffic to the site.
Your comments 'here'; are listed on google and are driving traffic to 'this site'.
Has everyone lost their heads. We are not talking about something new here just an innovative way of doing it. It makes a change to find under-inflated prices as opposed to over-inflated prices from an 'mlm' company. Don't knock it until you have something worthwhile and constructive to say! And it would be handy if we knew where such information came from, if it's your opinion say so!
Lewis created, runs and 100% owns (both personally and through his company Moneysavingexpert.com) the website Money saving expert . The quote below is from 'The independent on Sat 28th Nov 2009

The website of the same name started up in February 2003, for an outlay of £100. Lewis is proud that he's never needed to advertise the site, when word of mouth did it for him. He doesn't allow companies to advertise and the site is free to use (it makes money by a trade-off with "affiliate links" to finance comparison sites) if a consumer clicks into the links, but Lewis is wary of seeming to favour any financial organisation over another.0 -
From what I have heard the DSA (Direct Selling Association) which (from what I understand) is the governing body for MLM companies will not allow Shopping Genie to be registered with them. After 30 years of mortgage paying we are blessed to say we are MORTGAGE FREE 11 years early0

i'm unsure about installing a product that logs everything that I am looking at on the internet and send it backs to their servers so they can target me with offers ( only from their spnsored list , not always the best/cheapest)
I'm also unsure if it interferes with tracking on cashbacks sites ( competing cookies etc)
its also asking for uncontrolled access to the internet for the app, quote from their web site
you need to adjust settings to give MyShoppingGenie an open connection to the Internet. Once you allow MyShoppingGenie to communicate through the firewall also check any other security software you may have installedEx forum ambassador
