Hiya
Does anyone recognise this number. They keep ringing up and then not speaking ( I imagione dialled electroncially i , not just keeping quiet) and when you 1471 & phone back it is permanently engaged.
Its beginning to get on my thing.
Any ideas anyone.

Can't help with the number but ring BT and if you complain that it's a nuisance call they should be able to help you0 -

nope, it was the landline. I have it set so that they cant get though if they dont have a number but they have a number and its just permanently engaged. Grrh....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0

Sounds like it could be a call centre, as a previous poster says its from Preston in Lancashire is the code and there are quite a few call centres and big centres like that round it.Weight Loss - 102lb0

i had a quick look and its happened to someone there too....

Whats probably happening is the computer is auto dialing, and then at some point an operator picks up, by that point there has been a delay and you have put the phone down.
The operator doesnt know who they are talking to and they dont care, they are probably trying to sell you something.
Just literally takes numbers from a database which is basically from the BT phone book!0 -
Its a call center 'or' its a Silent Call system
These are computers that ring up numbers, wait till you answer and then record the time and day you picked up the phone,then its passed on to Phone sales or Debt agencies who want to talk to you:mad: :mad:
So they know whats the best time to call you! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:
