in Cutting tax
We are going to send a petition to No.10 to stop the government taxing us to park at work.10 Million people park at work every day. Our aim is to get 1 Million signatures to stop the tax.
we are hosting the petition at an official Facebook page: ''Petition Parking Tax''
There is huge resistance against the tax.
Do you think the Government are wrong to Tax us to park at work?
It's now evident that a number of local authorities are actively
examining introducing the charge in an attempt to raise funds.
About 10 million people drive to work every day and many,
particularly those in remote areas without public transport,
will be dismayed that they could now have to pay to park.
I am definately against this and have started a petition for
lobbying to No.10.
Please feel free to comment and if you wish to read further or sign the petition
please visit the Facebook page.
Please let everbody know.
Thanks so much.

On the fenceCar pool?
Taxi?
Motor Bike?
Push bike?
Park and ride?
Hitch hike?
Bus pass?
Train?
Tram?
I for one would welcome roads that were not clogged twice a day by thrusting manic commuters burning up this country's carbon allowance..
Mind you getting an allocated space in the car park is the greatest badge of status and fighting for a space in the car park is a powerful incentive to get to work early.0 -
DisagreeAgree....we are driving the alternatives on our site to ease congestion. Especially the car pooling/journey sharing. This is the way to go.
The problem with the parking at work Tax is that the consumer will rebel and park on the street!
As one of our petition signers put it:
Quote:
Think of local residences and how this will effect them by having cars turn up in their streets to avoid the tax. Think also how emergency services will be effected by lessened access to dwellings if roads are clogged up with additional cars parked in them, also avoiding the tax. This tax will cause more problems than solve the Government\\\'s attempt to save money.0 -
DisagreeIll reply to any questions in the morning. Thanks for your support.0

AgreeExcept I think the money should be 100% earmarked for public transport and that there should be a test based upon availability of public transport before you are forced to pay.
All that lovely money would really sort out public transport problems (oh Maggie - all those men who find themselves on a bus eh?)
But . . . I can see companies forking this out as part of a senior staff salary package, so I think the charge should be a flat tax, but a % of your salary
But try get the Tories to do that! It does run the risk of being a discriminatory tax that some use as a badge of status that it gets paid for them.
We have become too reliant on our cars, and companies have become too reliant on our cars to so that they can shift offices to cheaper locations that are inconvenient to staff or to centralise operations. Time to decentralise again.0 -

The same thing has happened to schools.
Once upon a time schools were conveniently the centre of their communities.
My council for one has identified a super weaze:
You do a site valuation of the old, established, town centre, walkto school, site.
The valuation is a fortune.
On the edge of town you find a farmer in the green belt, whose fields are worth (say) 12K an acre as pony paddocks.
You do a deal with him pointing out that only your organisation has the power to adjust green belt boundaries.
Result nice new edge of town school at minimum "cost".
Downside: the next generation will have to be driven or bused to school and all their teachers will have to park in the playground.
Delinquent top deck behaviour, increased carbon footprint, future heart attacks and strokes for unhealthy bodies

I don't see a problem with charging for parking. I have to pay at the moment. would love to only pay £250 per annum for parking, at the moment I pay about £600This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Disagreeits an absurd idea.0

We want things but we don't want to pay for them! Just cut the benefits of the immigrants and poor, that'll keep the country afloat!0

OMG Its not just about individualls, 10 million people park at work. At the mo they pay nothing...perk of the job. Their employer already pays for the parking space as business rates!!
Of course the guys who dont have this parking perk will want it and be willing to pay £250 per year....what about when it rises to £500, then £750 then a grand ?? Needs to be nipped in the bud as far as I'm concerned.
I remember when it was £2 a day to park in London (I'm not that old BTW...LOL) Now its around £45 per day !!
Campaigning is my passion, I also love to help where I can, thats why I run free site where savers can easily rent a cheap and safe parking space. I cant mention the name as I will be thrown off the forum.
Don't forget to sign the petition so you don't have to pay to park when you get the job with the FREE parking....
