Ordered a sofa on 26th August, got a letter yesterday saying its unlikely they will have stock until the 26th October.
In their Ts&Cs it says that they can have 35days for normal delivery.
Has anyone else come accross this issue and got any compensation or anything reduced from the cost?
Thanks in advance

You might get a £10 gift card if you moan enough, but the catelogue does say it's subject to stock availability and Argos doesn't as a rule give compensation out to people who were informed of stock delays.
My advice is: Once the delivery time has expired ask to speak to a manager. Often they will check orders for the same item, if they can find a customer who doesn't seem to be in a hurry for their delivery they can take it from their order and give it to you.0 -
the catch here is that if you look on your receipt in will say "delivery usually within 35 days" - usually being the operative word. it is no guarantee. furthermore, those are 35 working days (mon-fri), not calendar days.
argos direct do not usually compensate unless monetary loss has been incurred, or they far, far exceed the lead time that you are quoted at the time of purchase, in which case they *may* offer a GV as a goodwill gesture
the trouble with sofas is that they are direct import from Hong kong, and it can take a fair while for that container to reach the uk. out of curiosity, which model was it?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I am very interested in this as I ordered 2 sofas from Argos on 31st August, 1 had 28 days delivery, which has passed and the other a 35 day delivery time. Time is up on this one next Thursday but I have heard nothing from them yet about either Sofa. I did phone them after 2 weeks to check the position as I was told in store that they would ring me in 7-10 days with a delivery date and they didn't. I was told by Argos Direct that they were aiming for delivery by 5th Oct, which is 35 calendar days not working days.
Which Sofa did you order? Mine are the large Corsica natural and Corsica Sofabed natural.
Call me sceptical but I somehow think they are not going to be delivered on time.
Interestingly one of the Sofas was showing as "out of stock" on the Argos website just before I ordered but I have an email from them "we have just received further stock" ... order now!
I also asked in store whether the Sofa was available they took my postcode and the answer I got was "yes"0 -
Had the same thing at the end of last week, a letter saying they were out of stock and the supply was late and expected delivery on the 26th October!!
Now the 35th day is coming up this Tuesday so i rang them on Wednesday last week just to check and the women said she couldn't give a date but someone will ring me in 3-5 days and she assurred me that there were no delays! Ha!
So now they expected me to wait another month, which means they will have had £600 of mine for nearly two months, just sat in their accounts! Ludicious.
I've been sat on the floor in my new house now for too long
I like how on the website the sofa's I ordered are now for delivery within 28 days, which means I could be someone who makes an order today and will get my sofa at the same time, actually probably before just to wind me up even more, someone who ordered over a month ago!
Terrible service from Argos. I love as well how their marketing states something stupid like '15,000 products to take away today!' when if you actually go through the catalogue you can probably take away about 5 today, then have to wait a month for everything else!
Gits.
Oh, the sofa I ordered was a medium Lucy and a medium sofabed Lucy! So it's not even the same as the ones someone has mentioned on here!!

Good News...
I did receive a letter from Argos saying they didn't expect to deliver before 29th October.
However, they rung me today and offered delivery this Wednesday 11th.
Looks like the letters are standard but you might get delivery before the date in the letter. (fingers crossed SamRobins)
Seems Argos have got themselves into a bit of a mess.
If your considering buying a Sofa from them... be aware!0 -
Haha lucky you andywy! I rang them again today, they said that stock isn't coming in until 26th and expect delivery 3-4 days after that!
Looks like I'm stuck. I would cancel but I would have to wait another 4-8 weeks from another other place so I might as well stick it out0
