My 11yr old had a removable top brace fitted last Wednesday. (His mouth is very congested - will be moving onto fixed braces in about 3 months, all being well) After the initial couple of days of pain, they settled down. He did his first 'turn' on Sunday morning and they immediately felt great. By Monday, he was noticing that one side felt very loose and as he was eating, this side was dropping down which made the other side pull.
He had to do his second turn this morning and at first it was a lot better but then after a few hours, the same thing has happened again...it is like one side is just slipping off his teeth.
Have rang the orthodontist but couldn't get past the receptionist who says the earliest appointment he can have is a week next Friday, so 9 days away.
Is this something that is normal and he will have to put up with or should I be concerned that it is not normal? He definitely hasn't over turned or anything like that.
Thanks for any help.

Does it firm up again after a day or two?
If so, then it's probably OK. If it stays loose then it may well need a tweak.
I wouldn't say it needs an 'urgent' appointment, and carry on doing what you're supposed to until the appointment you've got.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

No, it just goes looser....when he eats it actually drops down off his teeth at one side now. It has worked very quickly though on the non-dropping down side as last week the second tooth wasn't visible when he smiled as it was hidden behind his front tooth and today it is very definitely there.
Will see how he goes in the next couple of days - he finds it more irritating than painful.
