£11k on credit cards. Not sure if theres an option

Hi Everyone

I have a £33k debt with £11k on credit cards which is the issue. THe rest is a loan which is going down nicely per month

The credit card payments per months come to £400 so doesn't leave me with anything extra to overpay them.

There is so much on this site im not sure where to look if theres a good way to sort them out?

I did apply for a loan to consolidate them about 6-8 weeks ago but got turned down.

As i am able to pay the sums , i cant goto them and say can you remove the interest as someone said to me once as they payments have been ok. Just dont have anything left to move the figure downwards quicker.

Does anyone have any experience of having the same thing or any suggestions?

Many Thanks

Rob

  • Hi

The general reply is that if you post a Statement of Affairs then the users will have a look and see what they can do. There is a link but I don't have it although I am sure someone will be along soon to post it.

Some absolute no no's though - don't consolidate. this is only delaying the inevitable and does not constitute you changing your ways which is necessary to actually resolve the issue.
If you are making the repayments and not increasing your debt then continue to do so. Cut up all your cards so you are not tempted to use them.

Realising there is an issue is the first step so well done for that.

    Keep smiling

  • Thanks for replying

Yeah i saw a post on her the other day about not consolidating so won't go there

  • A couple of tips to get you started:
    1) try a spending diary - if you're like most people you will be spending loads on 'little things' ie chocolate bars/lunch at work/coffees (at work/on the way to work),cigarettes/magazines/dvd's/clothes etc
    2) have a look and see if there is room to manouvre any high interest balances to lower interest cards if there is space available.
    Good Luck

    Are the debts enforceable?

Have you CCA them to see if they hold the correct signed paperwork?

You can send a letter off templates are on the net asking them to provide you with a signed ciopy of your CCA they have 12+2 working days to provide this then officially you can send a letter in dispute until such time that they send you a valid agreement.

Its worth a shot as you can then put them in dispute where no interest is added until them provide you with the correct info!!
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
