2 mths left on mortgage - erc

We are tied in our mortgage till the end of Dec this year. We have sold our house and an offer accepted on our new house. The problem is our current mortgage provider won't give us the extra for our new house therefore we have to move to a new provider, hence there is now a £4k early redemption charge (which we were aware of) I know there isn't probably anything we can do about this. We just feel alittle hard done by as the current provider isn't taking into account extra earnings they origianally took into account when they gave us the original mortgage.
Our mortgage adviser has appealed against it as £4k over 2 months is more than the going interest rate they'd lose out on. But they've said no.
We knoe we'll probably end up paying it but wondered if anyone been in a similar situation?

Offer to split it with the buyer, i.e reduce by 2k if they wait until you are out of ERC
