Bankruptcy, getting discharged and married

Does anyone know how soon the OR can discharge you? How do they work it out as to how long it is until you are discharged?
Also, once I have declared myself BR and decide to get married, does this have any effect on me or my new spouse? Do I need to advise the OR?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thankyou

If you get married then yes you advise the OR of your new name and circumstances. It will not affect your husband to be as long as you have no joint finances. Are you living together at the moment?

Hope that helps.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

I've been wondering a similar question. Don't currently live with the OH as he's off studying, but we're planning on moving in together in about a year's time, when he's qualified and has a job etc. The long-term plan is to get married.
If it's post-discharge, do I still need to inform the OR about the change of address (I'll probably be moving halfway up the country) and then the marriage? We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

When you go BR you will do a SoA which will have your full household expenses and your own expenses, your full income and what your OH contributes to the full household expenses. When you marry this will not change as you are already living together but you will have to inform the OR of your name change and new status. If over the BR period your circumstances change ie; you leave to go onto maternity leave or you get promotion and more income then you let the OR know.maisietink wrote: »Yes we are but we have nothing in joint names
If you do not have an IPA then no, after your 12 months is up you can do as you wish. While you are undischarged or in an IPA you must let the OR know of any changes, this is a legal obligation and could lead to a criminal prosecution if you don't.I've been wondering a similar question. Thanks so much for this. No IPA as no surplus to speak of! Will be paying the nil tax rate amendment only.We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
