Oh, I know.. I wasnt being negative.. Just saying that they can flup off really..

However, it would be nice if they simply paid the fee for us both !

I beleive they do it all the time though you know.. its another threat they use to get you into paying more...

if they wanted to make you bankrupt dose it mean they would have to pay the court cost and not you

Not exactly - they have added court, and attendance costs, totalling £1,575 to the petition - this means that they are asking the court to award them costs, which will, in effect, be added to the BR figure, i.e. against the defendant.
What it does mean, however, is that you, or in this case me, do not have to pay the fee upfront, although this way can work out more expensive.

Having had a few days to digest the information in my BR petition, I am still wondering why I do not feel any adverse emotion - I almost imagine that I should have 'cracked' but it all seems just so clinical and void of emotion.

Since the only 'contact number' that I have been given is that of the petitioner's (HMRC) solicitor, whose advice could be construed as having a possibility of bias, I wonder if anyone can advise me as to what documents, etc. I would need to prepare for the court.

I did ask at CAB, who were not able to advise, and am trying to get a quick appointment with a solicitor - perhaps you could also indicate what I should be asking of the solicitor, bearing in mind that I am only likely to have a 30 minute session.

    Thanks
    Rog
