I think that the letter and demand for payment is all part of the process they seem to put you through. I agree that M&S are one of the companies that is more reasonable and who generally don't take people to court. I took about 4 years to pay my two M&S accounts which are now cleared. In that time they sent me default letters and asked me to increase payments but never took me to court. Sadly they didn't stop the interest.

I'm on a DMP with the CCCS - and M&S are one of my largest creditors, owing them almost £10,000 on a credit card. I've had no problems with them at all. They accepted my DMP immediately (and froze interest). And other than letters confirming that they'll continue to accept the DMP for a further 12 months, I've not heard a peep out of them.

  • Thanks for all your replies and help. Strangely I've just opened a letter from them saying that as long as I stick to my agreed payment no further action will be taken. Weird! Perhaps a mix up in the recoveries dept? Anyway a massive relief.

Once again thanks for the replies. You were all spot on.
