Feeling pretty chuffed today, worked out how to get online to have a look at our joint account. We are heavily in debt although nothing disastrous all payments up to date and creditors happy etc. However it has concerned me that
A) I couldnt actually tell you how much we owe,
We have severe ostrich mentality,
C) are we ever going to get out of it???
So this month we have worked our socks off, lots of extra jobs, plus selling things we dont need etc.
By going online not only have I seen how much in black and white (We dont look at statements either) we spent on our totally over the top shopping, (just popping to sainsburys to get some milk......£70 later) and other sundries.......... I discovered that by doing all these extra jobs instead of banking £2900 this month we have banked £5690 :beer::T, How fantastic is that!!!!!!!
This has brought out arranged overdraft down from £7000 in the red to £4100 (still in the red but its a start!!!) and this is just the first month of doing this without cutting down on spending at all just earning more :rotfl:
Now I know how to work this pin sentry gadget I am going to be on it all the time!!!!! sorry for all the smilies got a bit over excited. :rotfl:
Debt free here we come.

Well done, what a fantastic start and excellent extra earnings :T
I must say though that if you work out exactly how much in debt you are it will act as an excellent deterrent to splashing out on things you don't really need.
Online banking is fantastic and really helps to stay on top of things plus you can start seeing the debt go down too.
Keep up the good work.:)It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey

Post up an SOA here, its amazing what fresh eyes can help with in cutting down on spending.
Good for you for working more, now you have to work on spending less!!!!!make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Fantastic start well done:j.
Just a thought (and others with more knowledge may want to comment before you do anything) but is it worth asking your bank to reduce your overdraft to nearer its current balance to avoid the temptation of using it again?
I'm not sure how banks react and whether they see this as a sign of impending trouble or not.
Keep going and all the best for the next months additional earnings and reduced spending efforts.

Thankyou, Believe me , now I have worked out this gadget thing I am now going to go through it with a fine tooth comb. Will need lots of advise on the debts but will start on that tomorrow. Just sold my unused old caravan for £750 cash , normally I would buy myself something nice but I am going to do the right thing and put it into the bank account to bring the overdraft down even more!!
cant find any smilies on this quick reply so still smiling, this month has been the start of a new leaf for all of us!!0 -
ps....... so thats why the bank cashier was smiling at me when i went in this week. I am normally one of the ones they glower at!!!!0

If you want to use smileys, use the "post reply" button rather than the "quick reply" panel. Enough smileys for everyone! (Well done on the DFW start by the way, it's a nice feeling not to have to grovel at the bank!)"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
