  • Colleague had a similar problem, he called paypal and it all got sorted out, they agreed they should not have made the refund. He had to chase a few times to make it happen so do not let it drop.

Whenever I have filed a claim against ebayers (with good reason I might add lol) I have often only been able to get a partial refund as the seller has not had enough money in their Paypal account..

They say if the person puts gets more money in their account it will be taken out...

I didn't think that they could take money from your bank account!!!

Read through the paypal FAQ :o
  • The dispute has been escalated and paypal are going to look into it...watch this space ! although may call them now save-alot posted their phone number !

I made a claim through Paypal against a seller who didn't send me the item I'd bought. Part of the money was refunded -£15 of a £20 spend - because the seller only had that much in her Paypal account. As soon as she had more money in her Paypal account (from another sucker who bought something from her I guess) Paypal refunded me the outstanding fiver.

  • I don't keep money in the paypal account, they have taken money for a pair of jeans I sold (buyer perfectly happy with might I add) but thats only because I hadn't got round to taking out just yet.
At the moment the account is sitting with a minus balance as they have obviously taken the funds until the dispute is settled...

  • I used to sell on ebay full time and eventually had to stop accepting paypal because of the people who were using it as a means for a free gift at my expense!

I still use it as a buyer - but having to claim back on an item not recieved I only got back £8.50 on a £25.00 purchase

My advice would be to stop accepting paypal and if you had to set up a direct debit to use them - cancel it
  • Thanks for that natters, I will make sure the D/D is cancelled, I can't believe this has happened, speaking to a colleague she said that a lot of people are doing what happened to you and Paypal usually takes the buyers side :( gutted !

  • Paypal makes me worry more and more everyday, i think it's run by a bunch of crooks :( someone needs to make a new safer/reliable payment service with more insurance if anything goes wrong. Paypal is seriously messed up sometimes :(

One time someone bought a game from me..payed via paypal, so i posted it off 1-2 days later, then a week later i get an email from paypal saying the card the buyer used was possibly a stolen card..so they froze my account...when it was all investigated, they took the money back and left me out of pocket!! so not only had i lost the game, i also received no money at the end of the day because paypal retrieved it. It's not my bloody fault they took a week to inform me the card was stolen, and surely they're insured for stuff like that so the innocent seller doesnt lose out? obviously not though. Was not amused. Im just glad it was only for a small amount.

Now i always withdraw any money in paypal immediately.
  • I had no idea paypal could be so wrong, I had only good experiences from it as a buyer it made things much easier, but I'm suprised any sellers use it if this is what can happen ?? The worlds gone mad methinks !
