Book selling: eBay or Amazon?

Options
I've got a fair few books that I never read, so I'm thinking I should sell them off. The trouble with posting on Amazon is that they take (if I remember right) a hefty cut, whereas eBay's cut is possibly a bit lower. So, which one should I use to sell this load of books?

That said, anyone want to buy some books? ;) I'll be putting a list up a bit later, when I've worked through them, so drop me a line if you want one that's on the list.

Edit: The list is up: http://oopsilon.com/Books

This would get more responses in the ebay and other selling sites forum...

    Hi
I sell books on Amazon and sometimes on eBay. Although Amazon does take a cut, it is viable if you have enough books to sell in order to make a profit of some sorts. I earn between £40-£150 per month, it is often difficult to know how your books will sell.
eBay, due to it's listing fees and a large volume of books, is better if you have books which you think will be really sought after.
    Happy selling!

Are you selling off your old books, or buying them in to sell on?

At present, these are old books I have that I'd like to sell off. I might look into buying to sell later on.

  • i've sold my old uni books on amazon, yes they take a cut but they sell miles quicker as people look there before ebay when it comes to books. Also amazon do not charge if you don't sell the item, ebay do.

  • Another alternative is GreenMetropolis. I have a number of books listed with them and have sold a few. They give you a standard £3 for any book sold to cover the purchase and post and packaging. For heavy books you can specify a higher postage figure to cover the increased costs.

I can recommend them as the payment is credited to your bank fairly quickly.

I've tried all 3 (ebay, Green Metropolis and Amazon) and I find Amazon by far the quickest. You'd probably get slightly more on ebay, but I find that it's much less hassle to post on Amazon and they move a lot quicker. So I don't lose listing fees etc.

Green Metropolis is ok, but only textbooks or unusual books seem to move quickly there. If you've got a popular novel, forget about it!

I only use Amazon now after road-testing all three.
