Plumbing Course for the unemployed!

Hi
I recently heard on my local radio (Atlantic FM - Cornwall) that a local training provider is providing free intensive plumbing courses for unemployed persons. Unfortunately though, I was driving the car and couldn't take down the contact details!
Does anybody remember the advert, or is able to point me in the right direction to find out more info?? I've spent some time scouring the internet, yet haven't been able to find anything as yet...
Many thanks
Daniel

Complete and utter waste of time. No employer would be interested in anyone who has done an intensive course. Training companies doing intensive courses for unemployed get govt funding so don't care that they've actually just wasted the participants time.0

My brother-in-law has been plumbing for 30 years and he is out of work, cannot find a job. There is a surplus of plumbers and there are absolutely no jobs. Building is at an all time low. (My husband is also a plumber now struggling on very poor money and this message is from him).
He asks if you really believe you can train a plumber in such a short period working in a college workshop. He says save your money because there are thousands like you who have spent thousands on a Mickey Mouse course. There are thousands of plumbers with full tool kits and years of experience who can be called on to do any job from a tap washer to a total replumb of a house. They are all looking for work and in today's economic climate if a person cannot make a profit for an employer from Day 1 they are of no use whatsoever. Please save your money; don't be fooled by these people who know there are no jobs and know that your employment prospects after doing one of these courses are virtually zero. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Sorry I just noticed the course is free but the rest of what I said applies. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Well almost, perhaps, but not quite.
I happen to know 3 or 4 people that have done electrical/plumbing retraining. Given a choice of being skilled or unskilled, I know what I would choose.
Also OP, bear in mind that the economy will pick up at some stage, so if you get the chance to reskill or upskill, free of charge, it has to be worth taking.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
Why not ring the radio station and ask about the interview or advert? Alternatively, ask in the JCP when you sign on.0
