Green algae inside iron water reservoir

Hi all,
Any ideas how to clean out the green algae that has formed inside the water reservoir of my iron? Its not removable and I hate the idea that I'm ironing algae into my clothes....:eek:

Fill it up with some bleach solution. allow it to drain out of the soleplate, and rinse thoughroughly:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

You could also try bottle steriliser (as in baby bottles but I use it for all sorts of other stuff too!)0

I use the sterilising tablets that are used for false teeth. Just add to some nearly boiling water and pour into the iron. Leave for a few hours. works great. Works on allsort of other things as well.0

It must have been transferred from tap or tap water. That's why I only use mineral water preferably not Evian but softer ones like volvic so that it won't leave residue either.Money is not the root of all evil.
