  • Yep, it may be annoying but they are free to do this if they want. And as SarEl pointed out, it could be you one day who makes that mistake.

    Agree, they can employ whoever they like. So there is nothing wrong with what they have done and it would be pointless interviewing the woman who left for the job when they know they can do it.

    You know when public sector jobs have to be advertised externally? Doesn't mean they haven't already got someone internally earmarked for the role, they just have to go through the motions to be seen to be doing things in the correct way.

    It's just one of those things, your girlfriend should just move on - I hope she and her colleagues do not intend to act towards this lady as you are on here, or they will make sure they never get a promotion!
