Car Window Cleaning

I use a 50/50 vinegar and water spray and a microfibre cloth. Buff it up with some kitchen towel. Definitely don't do it in full sunshine or else it will smear like anything.

Hi OSers,
I have a new to me 2nd hand car, just bought it.
The problem i need help with is cleaning the wind screen.
On the inside ive have tried to clean it with screen wipes but there is a residue in places that just wont shift!
The residue kind of reminds me of hair spray on a mirror, its not visible all the time, but with the cold mornings, when the heaters on to clear the window, the patches where this residue is takes forever to clear!!
Can you advise?

You could try warm water with vinegar, failing that try methylated spirits it is fantastic for really stubborn residue and rinse wellBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Yes i'd second what butterflybrain says - warm water and vinegar i usually works, may take a couple of goes but should do the job and remove any streaks. Good luck!Pay off as much as you can 2011 challenge member 15:

ammonia - neat on a cloth or added to watrm water and vinegar will shift most things but don't inhale around it0

Rub the windscreen hard with a handful of well scrunched up newspaper. Works a treat!0

If it's on the outside make sure you give the wipers a good clean too as sometimes that's all you need and if they are dirty then they will just smear all your hard work at cleaning. My car needs this done too so I'll be trying some of these ideas in the daylight tomorrow!
It's only a game

I've just used an oily rag (bit of cheap cookingoil) & a scourer to clean the inside of the (glass) cooker door, had to do it while it was hot though to help loosen it. Shifted about 10+ years of muck!
