Hi,

I have a few debts that I am in the process of settling. I have a tesco loan that is being dealt with by moorcroft for the last 12 months, and I have been making token payments against this.

about a year ago they sent me a payment showing the balance as 13,000 ish, but about 5 months ago I received a new book saying I had agreed to pay £25 per month (i didnt) and if I didnt pay £25 per mont they would recover the FULL outstanding balance of £295 ... clearly they mis printed the £13k into £295. If I just pay the £295 can I demand the payment is marked as settled in FULL?

Not sure why you are paying these clowns anything at all really, when they have no legal power to any money off you at all.
Only a county court has this power.
  • Vince - No, I wouldn't have thought so. If you think it is £13k and you know how much you paid, then it is pretty unlikely.
  • I'm afraid to say that I doubt even Moorcroft are that incompetent!

I think that if you tried that they would just say that its a mistake on thier part. Have you ever had a statement from them?

I would pay them by recurring online payment from your online banking. Means you can set the amount and it doesnt charge you a fee to pay (I think paying over the PO counter incurs a small fee)
