On DMP and having to move abroad

Hi there
My partner has been offered a new job in the USA. I will be going with them but under the rules of the visa I will not be allowed to work.
I'm currently on a DMP via CCCS and pay £570 per month and as I'm unable to work my partner has said he will continue to pay this amount for me. The DMP is only in my name as it all relates to my own debts before I met him. We do not have joint finances.
As I'm sure you can appriocate I would rather continue to work but I don't really have an option.
The questions I have are - Do I have to tell CCCS that I i'm going aboard and can they stop me if I'm going to continue to make the repayments

I dont think that they have any power to stop you going anywhere and really don't care so long as you make the payments.
Have you asked them? I think that there is a sticky for asking cccs questions at the top of this forum page.

I can't imagine they will stop you as long as you are planning on continuing the payments. Yes, I would definitely tell them - it affects their correspondence and contact with you in general, and otherwise if there are any temporary glitches in your payments, it would look to them like you were running out on your debts. I would imagine their first concern is going to be whether or not it will change the details of your DMP, as obviously you are not working, but they may be quite happy to continue taking the same payments. At some point while you are in the US, you may be able to start working again, and you can always refigure it then based on your income at that point.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0
