company pension and no contribution

Hello all,

I work for a company that has a stakeholder pension scheme with Standard Life. They don't match any contributions or contribute anything themselves.

My questions are:
Is there any benefit for me to use the pension scheme provided by my employer, seeing as they don't contribute anything?

In theroy I could setup my own personal pension with anyone else, have freedom of choice of funds/company and minimize my account fees and contribute to that pension myself and have all the same tax benefits as contributing to the company pension. Is this correct?

I'm also considering contracting out of S2P and am I right in thinking that these extra contributions can go into a stakeholder or personal person, just not into a SIPP?

Also, another question while I'm here, what are the rules in moving overseas and taking your pension with you? Or the reverse, moving an overseas pension into the uk.

Thanks for your time
