Sony BluRay Player with Iplayer £99

Hi there

Play.com are selling a sony BDPS370 bluray player with wifi connectivity for £99 (BBC iPlayer)

This is an excellent Bluray player. I've just installed one for a friend and just bought one for myself. for the functionality and quality I couldn't believe it was only £99.

Through the Wifi you can get BBC iPlayer on your TV without having to use your computer and it is 1080p.

It also has a lan socket so you shouldn't need to buy a dongle to use it.

Listed at 119.99 however....
Enter voucher code BDPS370 at the checkout (use button on side menu) for £20 off

Has excellent reviews

  • Watch and listen to content in full HD 1080P thanks to Blu-ray Disc
  • Watch DVDs in near HD 1080p quality with DVD upscaling
  • Access YouTube and BBC iPlayer using BRAVIA Internet Video
  • Plug in a Sony USB dongle to wirelessly access online content
  • Connect your flash drive via USB to enjoy your photos and films

  • I use my Wii for Iplayer but it stops ever 5 mins as the wifi catches up. It would be interesting to see if this performs any better.

    My wifi link averages 1MB

maybe you should mention to get the wifi to work, you need one of these sony dongles, which are not cheap at £66.49, nearly as much as the player itself:eek:

suppose at that you are also running into PS3 territory in pricing

having just looked at the manual (here) it would seem from Page 12 that a wired connection is very much possible....
  • This player gets very good reviews, will let my friend know about this deal as he was after one but was waiting for the price to fall below £100 on amazon as it has done in the past (currently £120).

For those with access to Costco its currently available in store at £82.24.
  • Hi there

Yes you are right, if you do buy a sony wireless dongle it is another £60 odd pounds, however, the major plus points of the player are that it is one of the very few that can at the moment play iPlayer direclty on your TV without using a PC and as in the original post it has a LAN socket. Therefore, in extremis you can connect it to the internet for about £4 for a 20 foot lan cable from Ebay.

    Obviously not Ideal....

I didn't want to pay for an expensive wireless adaptor for my xbox360. therefore I opted for a Mains LAN using a power network adaptor. This gives me LAN at the back of my TV.

These adaptors are also cheap easy to set up and available from eBay.
