Howard Archer of IHS Global Insight said prices were likely to fall around 3pc over the final months of 2010 and that a further drop of around 5pc in house prices looked "highly possible" in 2011.

"On balance, while we believe that a sharp correction in house prices is unlikely ... we believe that they could be some 10pc lower by end-2011," he said.

Mr Archer's predictions come the day before the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) releases its latest housing market survey. He said the survey was likely to show that the supply-demand balance in the housing market was continuing to move "more in favour of buyers".

and so would those who own property and think house prices will fall.

if they're going to fall sell now and re-buy in x amount of months and make yourself £16k profit.

Man you do love Aberdeen don't you.
You certainly bring up the area into threads far often than I do and I have a VI in the area.
Indeed, I generally only discuss the area (as in this post) when replying to missguided posts of others like yourself.

I know you intended it as a joke and hope to get a few thanks from it, but please try to be a bit more mature and refrain from this childish tendancy.

You never know, you may help to reduce the amount of times the area is dicsussed.

    I do. I love it.

I am thinking of writing a little sing song about Aberdeen. I wonder what response that would get from the elders and their maturity meeting?

Internettings. Serious business....I forget sometimes. :)

    fair enough.
You'll agree you have no moral standing in questioning when and why others discuss the area then.
You'll want to be ana ctive participant in fact

Out of interest, why do you love it?
I've never had an affinity with an area I've never been to and know little of.

No doubt your littel sing song will be full of inaccuracies ;)

Is that aimed at any 'debt monkey' in particular or all of us?

Out of interest, does anyone know if I have to be debt free before I lose the 'debt monkey/debt junkie' tags or is there a proportional calculation or a minimum debt level? or am I branded this for life for once having accepted a loan?

It'll be interesting to see a response to this given the OP is apparently himself in debt on a shared ownership basis.

Where you've gone wrong here is trying to make sense of one of the silly little sound bites that have formed the staple argument of certain posters.

LOL it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular.

Was just playing. No different to the various happy clappy posts about people being priced out for longer.

    It's been taken terribly seriously!!
