Sorry, me again... Token Payments

Hello

We sent our first token payments just over a week ago to approx 11 creditors. This was a letter explaining our circumstances and £5 cheque to each creditor.

The problem is we have now stopped using our joint bank account and will be having our wages paid into new basic accounts at the end of the month (no cheque book).

How are we going to pay token payments needed until the iva/dmp plans are set up? Hubby said we can make payments over the phone but I thought going by the advice on here that we should only communicate to the creditors via letters?

Apologies for all the questions but every day I think about something else that needs sorting.

  • If you want to send by post, you could pay them with postal orders.

get bank deatails off your creditors and make a one off payment to them via the internet. dont give them your card details over the phone as some see this as free license to dip into your account when they see fit.

You could also set up a standing order to each of your creditors.
  • Hi there
I wrote and asked them for payment slips but you can also set up standing orders even with a basic bank account

Standing Orders are okay, just make sure you do not set up a Direct Debit though.
