I found tescobox through froogle. Prices are very cheap. I have asked around my clan members and they are an unknown. Companies house comes up empty also I hear. I think they would still make a profit at those prices just a small one. I am in the position to upgrade my box right now but not with them, too risky.

This is almost certainly a scam, apart from the mobile phone numbers, they do not appear on companies house, all the subsidaries are in dodgy places, and Tesco head office is certainly not at that address. I have email Tesco for their response on this, will let you know their reply.

In the meantime guys if it sounds too good to be true.....

  • Definitely sounds suspect this site, not least because of the name infringement.

I found them looking for Sharp Aquos 37" LCD TV and they came up on Froogle with an unbelievable price of just £550. The model they are selling is a 1080p TV which should be significantly more than this. The model (Sharp AQUOS LC-37D90U) cannot be found on the Sharp UK website and only on the Sharp USA website for $2,000. Definitely looks like they are importing, probably with duty still to be paid.

As they don't accept payment via credit card and only via cleared funds with a wire transfer, I'd be very wary of ordering without first having spoken to them, got details of their company location and a few satisfied customer references. They could be genuine but if they were then wouldn't their be others able to match their prices? I suspect it's a scam and after sending the money you get a string of excuses about a delayed shipment. This might go on for a few weeks (giving them time to get as many people with the scam as possible) before they suddenly disappear completely.

Prices are in euros so possibly a different electrical system than the UK and you have to spend 500 euros plus delivery charges so no thanks!

No Europe use 220-240v so the items if they ever arrive before Tesco Plc shuts them down, should work. But let's face it this things smells like one big big rat AVOID!!!

  • They do seem to be very dodgy. There is no proper head office to contact and the company seems to be spread over most of the world (site regestered to USA, and I heard somthing about a link to australia). Also thier uk office must be fake. the fax number can't be found on any adress search. The phone numebr is a mobile number. and the adress they give for their office in the UK, king street, is in the city of london the posh square mile old style buisness district. Where the bank of england the Gurkin ect are. I doubt this small un-orgonised company could aford offices there! Check it out on google maps. Note also the door number doesn't corrispond with the poscode. They say they are 18-20 but the postcode they give only covers door numbers 1 to 16!

Still if any of you have cash to splash it would be interesting to see if someone actualy gets their order. Give it a go just to find out but don't expect anything. If you actualy want the goods to turn up and don't jsut want fun chasing up orders and sending angry e-mails to a seemingly non-existant company this is not the shop for you.

It looks to me very like one of these nigerian scam sites (you get an email offering you electricals/mobile phones etc)

The wire transfer payment method says it all to me.....
