Key Pieces

I am fed up with buying clothes lately to find they do not wash well or they fall apart after a few weeks.

Some people choose to buy one or two pieces that they say last a lifetime. I would like to know where they buy them. I am happy to spend more but even when I have done its no good either the clothes are not big enough I am a 14 tall top and 33 inch leg or they still fall apart.

Please help - whether its coats, boots, shoes, tops, trousers, dresses or suits I want to know what you buy, where from and how long it has or will last (within reason I know you havent got a crystal ball).

hi, im quite thin so its hard to get the right fit, as the smaller size leg the shorter the length! anyway zara is fantastic for key peices, im 18 so on a budget , i giot a lovely trench coat, a woolen winter coat, some good fitting jeans, basic tshirts and jumpers a few pretty dresses then all i need is some accesories to alter the outfits
    great shops are gap,hm,and zara

maybe think of a wardrobe onsisting of
    -a waterproof trench (all seasons)
-a woolen or thicker winter coat
    -some formal trousers
-a few good pairs of jeans
    -about 5 tshirts
    -about 5 knitwear items
    -maybe 3 dresses

then a few pairs of heels and flats and maybe a pair of boots
  • I would say dont use shops like zara, gap and especially H&M as they are quite fashiion focussed and i find the quality quite shocking, most knitwear in H&M is acrylic,i would steer well clear if you want it to last.I would say check fabrics before buying, thats the key to quality.Try department stores such as debenhams, john lewis, house of fraser also you can find some great items in TK MAXX.I have a pair of Donna KARAN trousers that ive had abot 9 years and they still look as good as the day they were bought, think they were around £80 back then,so well worth it in my opinion. Also look after your clothes well and they will last longer, follow wash instruction, protect your shoes,it really does pay of.These days im more limited to having to use Primark and similar stores but still look after my clothes and find they do last a bit longer.
