i did it for a few months last christmas,
pros;
*good money, 30% comission off any sales.
*work to fit around kids,full time job etc
*good rewards and incentives
*recognition of good 'work' (sales,bookings)
cons;
*unit manager on at you constantly to book parties,book parties and book even more parties.
*sacking if you do not do/book enough parties
*target,targets, targets all the time (even though they make out your your own boss working for your self! your even self employed but they treat you like an employee!)
*ladies cancelling parties at the last minute
*parties where no one buys anything! (you could spend all day preparing for a party, spend an hour driving there, spend all night demonstrating and laying on games, then for no one to buy anything! then you will have lost money, you are comission only. You have to provide for at least 2 games per party out of your own pocket, £5-10 spent, then theres petrol!!
*getting parties is very very hardwork. I worked for 3 months and done 4 parties and made about £300
*unit managers: some a total fire breathing dragons and call/text you all day pushing you to book parties, if you have a full time job it can get rather stressful! but then others are fab and very understanding!
Ann summers is great when you have a good stream of parties, and not so great when you dont! its like any other party plan, you get back what you put in!
i did enjoy it but getting parties was very hard, if theres quite a few party organisers in your area then your all fighting over the same people!
Now is a good time to do it as xmas is coming and wives/girlfriends buy hubby/boyf gifts etc
good luck in your decision!0 -

Do NOT work for Ann Summers!!!
I am down about £300 after starting with the company 6 months ago. Was told I needed to boost my items in my kit every few weeks, and I did but didnt sell the old stuff so had loads of extra stuff. Was constantly badgered to have parties and increase sales, and if at any point I didnt u were embarrassed at team meetings. I started off being told its a flexible job and you choose your hours but you DONT!! Got texts and calls nearly every day to do a party and when I didnt my organiser was horrible to me!! Finally got told I wasnt doing enough parties so I left and when I went to send my stuff back I had to actually order more because theitems I was originally given are not in the catalogue anymore or have reduced in price. Ps the majority of dtuff I have bought for myself (eg jammies) are rubbish!! and loads of stuff got sent back from customers. Very stressful job that didnt make me a penny. No coaching from my unit organiser either.
DONT DO IT!!0 -
i agree with above. I worked for them 7 years ago and i made alot of money from it but all the pros and cons above are right and the company has changed alot since (i.e. worse).
If your thinking of something simular but better then look at BlueBella.
Where are you based, cause the company seems to be concentrated in the north and depending where you are will depend how far away your nearest rep is.0 -
Hi guys!
This is a little bit of a random question thrown in here but I need some help!
I need to complain to Ann Summers RE a party I had last week, my problem isnt with the young girl that attended but with the whole organisation before hand. The girl we ended up with was told 10 minutes before the party was due to start as the other girl rang in sick. Before this I had 4 different hosts over the space of a month supposed to be holding my party. Amongst other stuff I am not happy.
I just wondered if current reps / old reps could tell me where I need to send my complaint to?
Thanks

In response to your thread i would phone the organiser that held your party and ask her who the unit organiser is and speak to them direct to be honest there is not much head office will do as its totally different set up to the party plan side. I hope this helps and was sorry to hear you were not happy with the service you recieved xxx0
