where does it go?

ok moving flat very soon so until then i am going to keep a spending diary so i can find out where my money is going, because i am sure its houdini, i have just done a budget via the planner and even accounting for the haircuts i don't have (last haircut was 2 yrs ago:eek:)or the new clothes i don't buy (spent £20 in the sales in jan) it says i should have £49 left each month, i don't go out-because i have no money, i have quit smoking (thats my £49) so i am now on a mission to find out where it is going, so between now and the end of the month my aim is to find out and save it.
So no going shopping to home and bargin, no going out with my debit card at all, and shop only for what i need i.e food- but going to go with a shopping list. but the thing is i want to batch cook (no idea why i got out of it) so my food buget may be a little higher than it should be for a while but one i have a supply of meals in the freezer hopefully i will only have to to do it once a week/every 2 weeks to make up for the meals i have eaten :D.
i am waiting until tuesday when i get my IS to go shopping and that means i would have spent nothing all week :j
my main problem is i cannot save - i have to give my dad £50 a months towards next years car insurance because if i keep hold off it it is guarenteed to vanish. i am also limiting myself to only filling the car up once a month at the most, i filled it up at the begining of this months and only have half a tank left so no more giving friends lifts, no more spare of the moment going long distances to see friends everything is going to have to be planned and that includes no more 20mile round trips to get something off freecycle!!! so thats it really i think the main thing that will help is the spending diary oh and the shopping list

  • hectic day hospital appt first thing, then i viewed 3 flats, as soon as i find one i will hopefully never have to see another one for a long time, on a plus i stewed some rhubarb (free from dad's garden) and made individual rhubarb crumbles kept 2 out, frozen the rest, spent £6 in tesco but it was on stuff i needed.
toilet seat broke this morning so thats £10 to replace , no choice in the matter so will go to argos tomorrow
i used quite a bit of petrol today with running around so not sure how it will last until the end of the month but cannot think of anything i need to do for the the rest of the week so it might.
spoke to a friend today who owes me £20 should have that back on wednesday, also told same friend i couldn't drive 50miles to see her. luckily she is paying the money into my bank so i don't have to go and collect.
  • not really done much today, haven't even left the house but thats a good thing as no money spent on petrol , still need to buy a new toilet seat but that will have to be tomorrow now, just spent £24 on 2 pairs of glasses which i really need was tempted to pop down to asda tonight and get some mince to make lasagne with (its on offer) but its raining so i will got there after buying the toilet seat tomorrow which also means saving on the petrol. i suppose its a good thing that its raining means i won't spend any money :D
  • £4.32 tracked though quidco for the glasses bringing the down to £19.68 for 2 pairs :j
