I'm new to this sky thingie. My old aerial doesn't get Ch 5 very well so rather than replace it and buy a freeview box, can I sign up to sky for a year on the basic package, get the dish installation/box etc free, then cancel and get Ch 1 - 5 + the free news channels etc forever without paying anything more?

Also, on installation, will they route the wires under the floor (access possible) or allow me to pull through the cables to save messing up skirting boards.

Sorry to be ignorant on the situation. Be gentle with me!

Happy 4 worked fine for me this afternoon.

The operator asked for my Sky Account Number, which I dule gave. Account was reactivated with full sub within 20 minutes.

Was told that this was a 3 month contract, and that I would need to give 30 days notice if I wished to cancel or amend my sub. This could be done 30 days before the end of the 3 months.

    Thanks to original poster.

I threatened to cancel in November and was given Sky Movie World at half-price for 3 months. Rang in January to givethe 30 days notice and was given Family Pack at £13.50 for 3 months. Wonder what I will get when I give my 30 days notice in April?

Hi All, This is my first post on a brill site.
Thought I;d give you my latest experience with Sky

In Dec I was going to cancel sky as the dish is broken, when I called them I was offered a call out to fix it for £65,to which I said NO. Then I was offered a free callout and a new dish, which as I really wanted Sky for xmas i went for.
The engineer arranged a time with a 3 hr gap( between 1pm and 4pm) At 5.15 he had still not arrived and we had no message to say he was still coming ,so as I had an appointment to go to this left no one able to see to him should he arrive. When we got home I found out he had come at 5.30 .

Anyway after foolishly thinking that they may call to arrange another visit, I e-mailed them to voice my disappointment at the service.
I also complained about the £99 Sky + offer to first time subscribers was not available to long time subscribers for the same cost. And I also wanted a date to cancel my subscription.

Their answer was to apologise for their service ,the engineer only gives an approx time he will be there and can visit just before or just after the alloted time. And the engineer does not have to let you know if he is going to be late.
The Sky+ package is only available to new subscribers at £99 , and as I have already taken advantage of the free equipment when first joining sky,I do not qualify . T&C state that the free equipment offer is only available once per household. They have also given me a date that the subscription will stop. If we can help further ...etc...etc

So they are not worried about keeping old customers.

Should I have been offered the Sky+ package for £99 I would have said YES, buit now I will save some money, even if I do get hassle from the wife and kids when they find out what I have done!!!
  • Can your local cable operator offer ou a better deal?

Hi ,As far as I am aware cable is not an option available to me so I will have to see what free channels I can pick up on the sky box after the given date. I may have to get freeview box as an alternative. Mind you I might just fill up the credit limit on my sky card and dispose of it at a later date,And If I decide to renew my subs i will ask sky for a new card as the dog had the old one.
