I really feel like shouting and crying at the moment. I'm desperately trying to sort out our finances and get us out of the rest of our debt. Hubby's Insurance was due today and i've spent the last 3 weeks getting insurance quotes that have all shot up despite no accidents etc, anyway his renewal came through and it's just over a £100 more than the lowest quote i found. Anyway, i've been asking him to phone and cancel his insurance and start with the new one and he hasn't so today he's started his new insurance which is now going to cost £100 more than it would of done. I feel like just giving up, if i wasted £100 he'd go mad *well not mad but u know what i mean* but it's ok for him not too. He will just say he's been busy and it's not like he's idle etc etc but for pete's sake how long does it take to make a call
sorry for the rant!!

He's being really unfair Caz. You're right it's wasted money. How about if you went through the comparisson sites right now and got some quotes for him? Gocompare, compare the market and confused.com are the ones that spring to mind. I see you're online, you could do it now and in 20 minutes time present him with the answer, so al he has to do is pass you his Mastercard to finish up.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.

Can really understand your frustration at this. he wouldn't like it if you went outside into the street & posted 10 ten pound notes down the drain and this is what is effectively happening over the car insurance. Keep on working on him. I've finally got my husband to ditch his bank account with a 17 quid a month fee for services that he either doesn't use or could get for a lot cheaper elsewhere, I'd started to think I'd never succeed in this, but he's applied for a new account. Can understand why you needed a rant.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Yes I totally understand too. Sometimes it helps to present him with hard figures. Kind of 'because you couldnt be bothered to shop around we now will have to go without X and Y this month'..and make sure X and Y is stuff he likes not you!Egg April 10 £6600 Jan £4678 now £0
Santander Jan £3414 April £3338
Virgin April£2643 Aug £3155 April £7109
Barclaycard Oct £1476 April £1287
So far paid off 17% of c.c. debt:T0 -

I kind of did all that earlier and he rang to try and cancel it, they were shut, it's a £40 cancellation charge but he said we'll still save money still want to slap him though. My mum offered to pay the insurance for us and then we pay it monthly to her (so we've don't have to pay the extra bits) and like i said to H if we had gone with the quote i found but still pay the monthly cost we'd of been paying now we'd have it paid back to my mum in 7 or 8 months which gives us 4 months to save towards next years.
Did have a big chat about it and told him if i wasted £100 on craft stuff, toiletries, etc etc he'd complain and he has taken it on board i think. I expalined how i felt it was me doing all the saving, i do the accounts, i make the extra payments, sort the transfers out, do the shopping, scrimp and save etc adn he's not even doing little things that i ask.
Fingers crossed they may either price match the insurance or let us cancel without making us pay £40 but i doubt it!! thanks for the replies!was Proud to be dealing with debt! I'm so sorry, I know exactly how you feel, my ex-husband used to sabottage my best efforts too and I can't count the full on tantrums I had back then. Crying, shouting, throwing things, running upstairs and throwing myself on the bed to scream into the pillow... The only advice I can offer is to get it out of your system and take something off him until the financial value of the loss has been negated (eg cancel the Sky). He's not learning because you're cushioning him from the reality of a life without cash. The reality is- he's gonna have to go without something because that £100 doesn't just pop out of the air. (Or even that £40 cancellation fee if it's now been reduced to that).I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
