Stopper stuck in Glass decanter - help needed!

Hi. I have a beautiful glass claret jug, but the stopper (also glass) is stuck in it! Anyone know how to get it out?

My Granny used to wrap a dishcloth soaked in hot water around the neck of the decanter then tap the stopper gently with a wooden spoon.
Not that her sherry decanter often had a chance to get the stopper stuck!

If that doesn't work try dribbling some olive oil around the stopper, it will soak down overnight and will release in the morning - in theory!0

With luck, one of the above methods should work. If not you could try WD40.0

Humm I was going to suggest that you could try heating the whole thing. The theory being that the expanding air or vapor inside would push the top out for you...
