Buying a TAG Heuer watch?

Hi,

I'm currently wanting to purchase TAG's latest Aquaracer and I wondered if anybody on here can think of a way of bettering the current deal I've.been offered.

The watch retails at £1750 so with Quidco, Ernest Jones' price would be -17% = £1452

A local jeweller can offer me the same with a TAG Heuer standard warranty etc @ £1425.

I think these are good prices but the more I can save, the better right now.

Are there any other ways people can think of for me to save more or should I stop being so greedy and just buy it? :-)

Thanks

I can't find an Aquaracer on the Ernest Jones website which costs £1750.

Is it one of these watches?

    http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/6803601/tag+heuer+aquaracer+automatic+men%27s+watch/ £1695

    http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/5272939/tag+heuer+aquaracer+men%27s+automatic+chronograph+watch/ £1850

The only Tag Heuer watch which costs £1750 is this one but it's not an Aquaracer.

It's very difficult to find better prices if you don't provide accurate information.

    Hi,

Sorry, it's the last link with the black watch. I can't post links as i'm a new user on here.

It is actually an Aquaracer but it's not listed correctly on their website. It's an Aquaracer 500m WAJ2180.

    Thanks

    Thanks for that.

Your choice must be a pretty limited edition because I can only find two other websites which sell it. The Watch Gallery is charging the same price as Ernest Jones.

    http://www.thewatchgallery.co.uk/Tag-Heuer/Aquaracer/Aquaracer-500m-All-Black-WAJ2180FT6015-watch-(TAG-091)

Or this one from Banks and Lyon which doesn't actually have a price on it.

    http://www.bankslyon.co.uk/details.php?product=9049

They say: PRICE: As an Official TAG HEUER stockist we have to respect their policy
concerning the advertising of prices on the Internet. If you would like a price quote for this watch, please email blahblahblah. So does that mean there's some sort of price fixing going on or just marketing BS?

As regards your original question I would go with the local jeweller because you can't be absolutely sure that Quidco will track.

    I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I called that jeweller the other day and they were at lunch etc. I'll give them another try tomorrow.

    Hi
I went on holiday to Barbados (not the best holiday :o) but after wondering around the town centre (Bridgetown) i realised how cheap TAG and other watches were.
I didnt have any intention of buying a watch, but as my "now wife" and i had just got engaged we decided to treat ourselves.
I bought a TAG Aquaracer for about £670 which sells in the UK for about £1200-£1300.
Ok we did buy also buy a £900 necklace which gave us extra bargaining power.
I dont think the savings would be a good now as this was 4 years ago when the pound was much stronger against the Dollar.
The store was called Colombian Emeralds.

Oh, and dont forget to declare it at customs on the way home. ;)
  • As you have found independent jewellers are able to give better deals as the proprietor knows what the watch has cost the shop to buy in.

I used to work in an independent jewellers (in the same town as Banks Lyon incidentally) and sometimes my boss would part exchange for jewellery or other watches.

Not sure thats much help but it's something we were asked a lot.

Thanks for the replies. I did have a thought of travelling abroad to buy the watch but haven't had time to suss out the best place. Even so though, i've found the watch in America for the equivalent of £1159 @ today's rate. That's a great saving but factoring in the flights, the saving would be non-existent.

If I buy via the internet, I might get hit with fees so it's still not the best solution. I do have some friends in the USA though so if I run out of ideas here, I'll look to them for what they can do.

I don't really want to exchange anything for the watch so finding the right cash price is what I need really. I'm very happy @ £1425 but other models in the same range just don't seem to hold their value at all and as much as I want this, I know it will depreciate like a brick. At least if I can get it for a lower price, it will limit the depreciation.
  • Tesco vouchers and goldsmiths ?

I have £65 in tesco vouchers so that would work out at £1490 vs. £1425 without them. If goldsmiths would discount it could work but then I think the vouchers are invalid :-s lol.
  • Fair enough. I have been saving tesco vouchers for a while now, have about £1000, so £4k worth. Was planning on getting a cartier watch, but we are now moving house so may use them for something more practical.
