Mystery Shopper cover blown!

i work for a 'a big bookie' and most of the time mystery shoppers stick out like a sore thumb. £2-£5 bet (usually £2) look around, use the toilets, ask a question. Look at your name badge. Stand outside looking around to see what shops it is in between. It doesn't take much too work it out sometimes.
I had the same mystery shopper 5 times in a row, it felt like he was a regular lol:rotfl:Finally debt free, all thanks to this site and all the posters:j0 -
Two situations from my MS experience:
1) I am getting seriously bored waiting to be served at the bar in one of the pubs while a supervisor is busy explaining to his staff - "today we might have a MS coming, make sure you smile and check if he is happy with his food...". All standing with their backs facing me.
2) After visiting well over 100 bookies in my region I come again to a small shop in the suberps - pretty uneventful visit - until I see that on the internal board behind the counter there are pictures of some criminals and fraudsters along with my picture from CCTV (in winter clothing) marked "MS".0 -

Email queries are harder though.
I didn't have a chance to act in any manner. All I did was ask how much something was (and it was actually something I was genuinely interested in too). It was the item itself which gave me away.
I do think this is a problem with some of the "cheaper" companies such as RE. I wonder what type of consulting / advice they give their clients. Fees and spends have been brought to the bone. If a low bet is giving mystery shoppers away and making a mockery of the whole mystery shopping programme then surely they should be advising their clients to allow a higher spend. Otherwise, they are just throwing money away.

I used to work at a huge chain pizza restaurant and we were told when the mystery shopper was due (the week) and it was always really obvious because the mystery shopper always had to order certain things (a medium pizza, 2 refill drinks and a salad when offered), and it was always the person checking out our uniform and looking at their watch all the time, but we would never say to them that we knew it was them!
They should mix it up a bit so it isn't so obvious but I guess the company want their staff to get good scores so probably keep it the same for that reason.0 -

I wish the local pizza restaurants round here would spot me. I have only once been offered a refill and we always struggle to get the bill at the end. You'd think that the order would be a dead give away, I agree especially during lunch when there are other better meal options.0 -

The funny thing was, he was so flustered he didn't say the things he was supposed to say (special offers, discounts, my name and contact details) so his report was not great!
D.
PS. I told the mystery shopping company and they changed the scenario. It had been the same for 3 years!
LOL! No way!!0 -
