Council tax, baliffs and an offer to pay

Hi,
Put simply I have made an offer of £150 a month to clear a council tax debt.
The debt collectors state that this is OK however they will need to send a bailiff round to do the paperwork.
I am not happy about this because it will add extra cost when I am agreeing to pay.
Can they do this unreasonable action.
It is also worth noting that I am currently paying this debt collector for another debt monthly and all goods in the house are already under a walk in possession order.
Thanks.

There is no need for the bailiff to visit if you are agreeing to set-up a payment plan they are happy with.
if a bailiff is sent, the debt will increase due to charges. They probably are trying to send them so they gain entry to the house and get another WPO at a hefty cost to you. A WPO will only apply to one debt, so the other debt doesn't even come into it.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

I would try National debtline, or CCCS first. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631
And if they do try and throw in bailiffs, get advice from here - http://www.bailiffadviceonline.co.uk/counciltax.htm
Potentially even the local council, state you have made them an offer of repayment that they agree is acceptable, but they are refusing to give you payment details to actually make payment.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

I would also add that phoning may be faster, but wherever possible you want to back up everything on the phone in writing too. Sometimes there just isn't time to, but the rest of the time it's worth the stamp.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.
