Ok, this is so important that I am gonna say it in bold... Whatever you do don't get a payday loan.

What've you got that you can sell? Can you sign up to do a bit of mystery shopping? How about asking the boss for a £100 sub to see you through? Bank of Mum, Dad, Nan, Gramps, Aunty, Uncle, sister or brother? Cycle or walk to work, or get lifts to save petrol/train fares? Babysit someones kids/ walk someones dog/ wash someones car for cash? Get a paper-round? Have a go at reclaiming some bank charges? Cor blimey the list is huge... How do you feel about the above so far?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Ooh the jobcentre, that's a good one, dunno, but I think they might. I think it might be called a bridging loan. Can't hurt to ask can it, especially not as they are interest free.

Only if you have been claiming for longer than 6 months then you'll automatically get a job grant.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Since you just got a new job could you ask mom and dad for tie you over. Surely they would understand.

You may be entitled to a Crisis Loan. This is an interest free loan from the Social Fund, so if you don't qualify for a Job grant this may help.
here's a link with info regarding the job grant:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Employedorlookingforwork/DG_10018789

And don't be afraid to ask your parents.
Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMP
Debt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

  • above advice is sound. If it were me I'd swallow my pride and ask my parents or sousins for a loan, after all you're only asking to borrow a modest amount, its not worth getting charges for such a small amount otherwise that amount will double. Other than that I'd contact the ppl I owed money to & ask them to extend the payment dates.

Good luck in ur new job! x

Families are what you go to when you're in trouble! They will enjoy a good moan and lecture you but, if they can help, they will.
