Not everyone wants to
a - Build a PC
b - Select a Linux distro, install distro, learn to use said distro. Be honest, linux isn't necessarily the easiest to use for the vast majority of computer users
People may actually want a computer that looks nice, is small, quiet and uses little power.
Not everyone needs the latest processor, huge hard drive 300 quid video card.
Yes, you can get cheaper computers, but the look !!!!!!, are noisy, have no software.
This is a computer for people who don't know much about computers, for people who want to mess about with MacOS, and for people who don't want a beige box (or one with blue leds and alien symbols) in their living room. It isn't for gamers, people who already use lots of PC-specific software, or those obsessed with having the fastest hardware.

Edit: Moneysaving relevance - get a free MacOS office package - google for NeoOfficeJ, it's a native MacOS port of OpenOffice - it runs faster on my Mac Mini than OO on my AMD 2200.0
