I ordered a couple of Turkey Breast Crowns from Clare Barry and asked them to cut them in half and received them today, I am really impressed. The 5kg Turkey Breast Crown is £39.99.
I normally buy the Bernard Matthew Crowns this time of year and freeze them so we can have Turkey after Xmas but these Crowns are better from Clare Barry as they have no bone.
    Have lots more ‘Pending’
    But total money I’ve received from Cashback Sites by performing 'Daily Clicks' is ;
    APRIL 2007 - JAN 2008 = £2,800:money:

  • I've just had my box delivered from the Blackface meat company.

Excellent customer service over a slight problem with my card payment.

Couldn't wait for lunch and had a steak sandwich for brunch:p. The beef is the best i've had and imho probably the best you can buy.
  • I will admit that I do use MrT sometimes for meat but never Mr S. I prefer to use a butcher as I think the source will be reliable but also because the meat does go further because there aren't any water based additives and it has been hung so will be denser.

A little flirting may help too so I don't use on line butchers!

Thought I might aswell post back to update on what I thought of meatpacks.

Meat was packaged and delivered with no problems.

The quality of the meat was good, although not great. Excellent for the value however. I am going to make an order now from blackface and will report pack to let you know the quality

  • I have used thebutchers-block .co.uk in the past I found their prices really cheap and their quality very very good. They offer 10% discounts as well on facebook and in magazines.

Well worth giving them a go.

Just to bump, douglas willis have half price chicken breasts at the moment, a pack of ten for £8.75. I had bought chicken breasts from T's and tried to fry them but they pretty much boiled from the amount of water that came out of them. My mum also got the gold steak collection and said it was the best steak she has had and she is THE fussiest person on the planet. Nothing is ever good enough for her.

Soil Association members get 10% off orders with Laverstoke Park Farm via the website. I haven't done that yet as my freezer is too full. I have eaten some of their stuff via Ocado, Waitrose and Sainsbury's however. I wouldn't recommend the bacon (bland, nasty colour, rashers half the size of other organic bacon), or the lamb and mint burgers - so dense they're like bricks. On the other hand the buffalo burgers are bloomin fantastic.

People aren't specifying whether the supermarket meat is organic, outdoor reared etc. I've done my own research, emailing and calling supermarkets.

Waitrose is the only UK supermarket now which specifies that ALL own brand meat/poultry and their products must be reared on a non GM diet. That's for ALL ranges. Waitrose is the only supermarket which specifies outdoor reared pork across all ranges. Sainsbury's requires non GM fed for some ranges in addition to organic. Lidl says the Bally Manor and organic ranges are non GM fed. ASDA and Morrisons allow GM feed for anything but organic.

I've been buying organic meat & poultry since March. The quality is terrible in Tesco. Not found any in Lidl, ASDA or Morrisons though they say they sell it. Recommend Sainsbury's and Waitrose, all been great. Abel & Cole has been good so far.

Any meat or poultry no matter how local can be fed GM feed unless organic. Don't think local = organic. Local doesn't necessarily mean better quality either and Red Tractor means to British welfare standards, not better quality, non GM fed or organic.

The reason we went organic was that we found dried glucose syrup, sodium acetate and added water in Tesco pork loin steaks so you may find fewer nasties in local meat because they don't have the technology to add it.
