Help we are in arrears with our mortgage

Stopping (or reducing payments) to one creditor to pay another is not generally a good plan for dealing with debts.blockhead4ever wrote: »Should we be contacting the utility companies to see if we can pay them less and pay of the mortgage to get it up to date or continue as we are.blockhead4ever wrote: »We are hoping to sort out an agreement with the mortgage company but I get the impresion they want us to have no extra money left over at the end of the month even a few hundered and pay it all to them
If you are behind on the mortgage this is exactly what you SHOULD be doing. Every penny spare and some should be shovelled at the debt to get yourself back on track (and ahead if possible) as swiftly as possible. A secured debt is THE PRIORITY one to clear, above all others. The banks are very, very jumpy about mortgages at the moment and not keeping up-to-date with your payments is going to make them even more nervous about you and your ability to repay the debt.
I'd go over to the Debt-Free Wannabe forum and get your SOA posted up. There's a whole bunch of people over there who are very good at showing you where and what to cut back to dig yourself out of a debt hole.0 -

Always pay secured loans first, if you have real problems you wont lose your house so fast.0 -

I had not thought about not Paying the council tax wouldnt they ask for it all in one go then. we dont like not payingand have never not paid anything. Hopefully the mortgage company will come back with an agreed figure
The council should not mind if you underpay them for a couple months. As long as you pay the amount due over the 12 month period, they don't care how it comes to them!I have been in the insurance industry for the past 6 1/2 years (protection products)
