Had NIE out with me tonight to have a look at the supply going in to new property - turns out there is a wire just above the front door which has burnt out and needs replaced. They are calling tomorrow morning to fix this.
Do they charge for the privelige of this (The wires) being replaced?

It's very unlikely. NIE are responsible for the supply network right up until it hits your meter. Everything from then on is your responsibility.
As this wire appears to be outside your property, then I would assume that they will have to deal with it themselves.0 -
They just left the property about 25 minutes ago. No mention of money which would tally with what you say.
They did an excellent job I have to say - got it done very quickly and not too much of a mess to clear up.0
