easiest rental agents to rent from

Hi all
Got into a few difficulties with credit due to oh losing his job last year. Just defaults no ccjs or anything and am currently paying it all off. We are both in full tine employment and looking to rent a new home asap. Just worried about failing a credit check with the estate agents (and being charged for the privelege).
Has anyone any experience of renting from any ea's with similar problems?

Hi, i'm currently renting from Douglas Huston, stranmillis road. They don't seem to mind, if you have jobs and guarantors they should accept you no problems. I know BTWCairn are rather bad for this sort of thing and are one of the ones who charge to search your history. Depends where you're looking I guess.

If you can't find a rental agent then do consider Gumtree, i've lived in two houses found from ads on gumtree and had no problems, in fact they've been the best houses i've ever been in (rented from Piney on stranmillis 3 years ago and they are rubbish agents) the rent can also be cheaper because they don't pay agent fees.

have been looking on gumtree but not much in my area at the moment. Looking to stay in east belfast, just gotta keep looking I guess I am sure something will turn up.
