Hi,
Hope I'm posting in the right place. I've been trying to find out some information about Fredrickson International Ltd so hope you can help
While on holiday last week, I received a letter from Fredrickson saying I need to call them. I have no idea who they are or what they are in relation to. There is no information on the letter other than a phone number and a reference number for me to quote.
By the looks of the information I've found online they seem to deal with Capital One or Lloyds TSB the most. I have previously had debts with both organisations but TSB was settled around 2 years ago and Capital One was last year.
I've had copies of my credit report and it shows these accounts are cleared. I have just applied to Experian for a full report to see what I can find out but I am unsure whether to call them and argue it out or see if they send anymore letters.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

Never call a DCA... You can if you want write a letter but it won't acheive anything apart from proving you live where you live which might trigger something else... I'd just ignore it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

That's what I was thinking. Until I get my credit report I think I'll lay low. The debts mentioned would both be over 6 years old if they hadn't been cleared so I gather they can't do too much other then argue with me0

Whatever you do, don't phone them! If you're fairly sure that all of your debts have been cleared, then they may just be fishing for someone to pay up on a random debt that they have had hanging around for a while, it could be nothing to do with you. Did you pay off your debts in full or were they partial settlements? Creditors sometimes sell on any outstanding amount to another DCA to collect, if you paid only a partial amount, they could be chasing for the rest. Sit tight and wait for more letters, if they want you that bad, they will come back. If they do, let us know and we can take it from there."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0

TSB was paid in full and I have detaiils of that still on my bank statements - plus a loan I'm paying off now that I had to get to pay it originally.
Capital One was a partial payment I belive but not sure of how much. The original debt was only around £300.
I will sit tight and see what happens then....Thanks

Today I have received another letter stating that Fredrickson are instructed by Phoenix Recoveries (UK) S.a.r.l to collect debt. I have necer heard of Phoenix and all I can find online is that they act of behalf of HSBC sometimes. I've never had any accounts with HSBC so I know it's not them .
The letter tells me to seek independant legal advice as it is a serious matter so I'm not sure what me next step is.0 -
Your best bet may be to send the fabled "Prove-it" letter here...

You may at least find out what they're on about! (It's probably nothing to do with you anyway so wait and see what they're going to come up with)"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
It sounds like they are not telling you what the alleged debt is. Is that right?kentgirlie wrote: »Today I have received another letter stating that Fredrickson are instructed by Phoenix Recoveries (UK) S.a.r.l to collect debt. In this scenario, some will suggest that you send the 'prove it' letter. Myself, I would want a fairly substantive allegation like 'you owe X £Y since <date>' before I would go with a 'prove it'. I would go with just telling them to come clean with an allegation or get stuffed.
Dear Fredrickson
I refer to your letter of <date>, advising that you are instructed to by Phoenix Recoveries (UK) S.a.r.l to collect debt and that I should seek independent legal advice. However, your letter does not specify the alleged original creditor, the alleged amount or the date on which any debt is alleged to have arisen.
Given the total lack of information, I am unable to assist you. Any further correspondence which does not provide the minimum information specified above may be ignored.
Yours faithfullyHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My boyfriend re-read the letter and it does have in very small writing that it is for an Argos Additions account. I've never had an account with them and having checked my credit report from Experian this debt is not listed under any of my former addresses.
Should I now write to them telling them this? I'm concerned that if I ignore them it will get nasty0 -
I have now received another letter from Fredrickson saying they are going to take me to court. Is there a template for a letter to basically say the debt is not mine so I won't be paying a penny?
Thanks0
