Is mum entitled to any pension

Options
Hi
My mum is 70 and dad doesn't retire until next year but is she entitled to any amount of pension yet? She only ever worked a few hours a week cleaning (and of course looking after us children) but never paid an insurance stamp.

she would only get a pension now if she had paid pension in her own right and was a minium of 25% of the basic (about 10 years), once your father reaches 65 she can claim against his contributions which is 60% of his basic. if your father has a 100% basic in his own right she would get £58.05 per week paid to her. Your dad's entitlement is not effected by this. Under the new rules if he choses to defer his state pension, she can still make a claim without the need for him to claim.(should say that she falls under the old rules for qualifing for state pension)
  • my mum stayed at home to look after us kids (triplets), because she claimed chikld benefit she got the full 18 years stamp payments made by the gov, giving her the full 30 yrs needed at age 60. I would call up the pension people, mum did last week and they were very nice!
